Callanan-Crusaders Basketball Tournament

a sLAM-DUNK SUCCESS

The inaugural Callanan Crusaders Basketball Tournament on October 28 was a slam-dunk success, raising more then $8,000 each for Make-A-Wish of Northeast New York and Catholic Central High School. The charity tournament drew 14 teams to Catholic Central gym in Troy for a day of hoops and community camaraderie. This concluded a year of fundraising by Callanan employees for Make-A-Wish. In total, we raised more than $15,000 to help fulfill a wish for a seriously ill child. Funds were also raised through activities at our family picnic and employee car/motorcycle charity ride in June, as well as donations from our office staff throughout the year for the privilege of wearing jeans on Fridays.

Make A Difference Week

For the fourth consecutive year, Callanan employees organized a Make A Difference Week in October. Groups of employees volunteered with a different not-for-profit organization each day. This year we volunteered with:

  • Turnpike Elementary
  • Van Rensselear Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation
  • Regional Food Bank
  • Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club
  • American Red Cross

  • Employees held three donatoin drives in addition to volunteering. We donated toiletries to the Hope House in Albany, pet supplies to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, and coats to Carhartt through their partnership with One Warm Coat.
